USEFUL TIPS FOR FCE TESTING

READING

·      Ignore the difficult vocabulary, just try to understand as much as possible

·      Remember that the main idea of the extract is in the first sentence

·      Mind the question words, they may be helpful

·      Scan for key words

·      Try to look for the answer around the key word

·      Fast, repeated reading is more effective than  slow

·      Start reading from the rubrics and the options

WRITING

·      Underline all the key words in the items for writing

·      Don’t forget to include each piece of information

·      Use adjectives to describe things

·      Try to involve the reader by asking questions. Use contractions (informal style only!)

·      Avoid direct questions and contractions. End in appropriate way .Ask to reply to you (formal              style only!)

·     Leave some space between the paragraphs to make them more visible
